The book examines the extent to which the potential of the fourth industrial revolution can be maximally utilized for machinery and plant engineering to develop new, innovative business models. In the chapter on evolutionary business models, it is assumed that the advancement of the state of the art in machinery and plant engineering occurs continuously in an evolutionary manner. The second part of the book explores opportunities for disruptive business models. It is assumed that, due to technological possibilities, the industry development of machinery and plant engineering will undergo radical changes, breaking down proprietary concepts while open concepts that have a disruptive effect will emerge.
