This book addresses the physical-chemical field of kinetics and its applications as far as it pertains to the study of chemistry. Accordingly, transport processes in gases, liquids, and solids are presented, with the main focus on the kinetics of chemical reactions. A section on electrochemical reactions follows. Additionally, topics that have rarely been covered in textbook literature are included, such as the Marcus theory of chemical reactions and kinetic statements derivable from the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. The necessary knowledge of certain mathematical and physical fundamentals required for understanding the book's content is either provided on the spot or, if a more extensive explanation is needed, in an appendix.
