Michael Bär examines the structures of container seaports in the Baltic Sea region, as container terminals are important interfaces in the spatial expansion of globally organized transport logistics processes. The author conducts an analysis of the logistical integration of container terminals in the Baltic Sea shipping area as interfaces in international transport logistics processes, drawing on approaches to explain global value creation and supply chains. The connecting element arises from the assumption that chain-like transport processes can be underpinned by statements from these theoretical explanatory approaches.
