Hendrik Trescher explores the question of whether leisure activities can also foster community for people with intellectual disabilities. The author examines this aspect in a multifaceted and comprehensive manner and ultimately concludes that many inclusion potentials remain untapped. Care institutions play a central role in this context. Building on this, he develops a concept of inclusion that is based on participation in discourse: inclusion should be understood as a process of deconstructing barriers to discourse participation. This process must take place in everyday life - in this sense, practical suggestions for improving the living situation of people with intellectual disabilities are also developed.
