The internal accounting provides the management with an indispensable information base for corporate governance. Since a company's revenues and expenses are structured differently than what is necessary for management, they must be converted into the relevant accounting figures. This textbook introduces internal accounting and then describes in detail three types of accounts: (1) sales-related accounts (type, location, and cost center accounting), (2) division-related accounts for managing parts of the company, and (3) decision-oriented accounts. Finally, it outlines how the three types of accounts can be applied for planning and control purposes.
