This book explores the tension between intervention and participation. Intervention research and related approaches in transdisciplinary research share a central characteristic: they bridge the gap between science and practice. From problem definition to the development of implementation-oriented knowledge and action options, references to the perspectives of non-scientific stakeholder groups are both welcome and necessary. Transdisciplinary research requires various forms of participation and simultaneously intervenes in the social systems and contexts in which it is embedded. Drawing on rich research experience in diverse societal fields, exciting perspectives and theses are developed.
