The aim of this book is to expand the short-term Keynesian IS-LM model for determining interest rates, income, and employment into an analysis of the medium and long term through successive extensions (wage and price dynamics, capacity effects of investments, population growth, and endogenous technological progress) at a textbook level. As it turns out, a central Keynesian result, namely the possibility of instability in the private sector, can be demonstrated for the aforementioned time frames. In this context, a number of empirically relevant phenomena, such as nominal wage rigidities, the interest rate structure and its effects, are explicitly taken into account in the modeling.
