At the center of Alex Knoll's study is the design of everyday life for children in early childhood. From a perspective of inequality and discourse theory, as well as using a multimethod design, he examines how parents organize the care of their children and the activities they involve them in. The author demonstrates that differences in children's daily lives are not only related to social background but also refer to contested societal and media-mediated notions of childhood and the individual engagement with these ideas.
