This book starts from a disturbing diagnosis of our current culture: the observation that the spirit of the age is almost entirely shaped by a radical relativism and pluralism. This book aims to challenge the hegemony of a diffuse postmodernism. On one hand, it provides a comprehensive genealogy of contemporary thought through a journey through the history of European philosophy to ensure a critique of the prevailing paradigm. On the other hand, it counters the destructive postmodern relativism with the idea of truth as consensus. For it is not about tolerance, nor about enduring differences, but about truth and consensus. Relativism is not the end. It must not have the final word. There is more to be thought.
