Energy in the form of solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, as well as electrical power, is the cornerstone of any industrial activity and thus also a primary economic and political factor. The dominant position of coal as a source of energy and heat, as well as its significance as a chemical raw material, is undeniable in our country, as in most coal-producing countries, even though oil has taken on a significant share in many countries and areas, and natural gas has also spread to the extent that it has become available as the most convenient energy source. The task of any energy and raw material economy is to ensure a sufficient supply at the lowest possible costs. This necessitates, despite the often enormous fluctuations in supply and demand, a long-term focus on the most economical use.
