Starting from the description of the Maxwell speed distribution, the derivation of the equation of state for ideal gases follows, along with the description of the most important equations of state for real gases. Subsequently, the relationships for all significant gas kinetic parameters are derived, and methods for their experimental determination are presented. The presentation concludes with the explanation of selected calculations and a compilation of all important formulas. The mathematical apparatus is kept as simple as necessary.
