Max Schulte examines the relationship between politics and civil society in the local context. He focuses on the subjective perspective of engaged individuals in practice. As a result, there is a clear functional interconnection between both areas, as well as the emergence of specific local engagement careers that link politics and civil society involvement. Based on qualitative interviews, a typology of engagement careers and a model of relevant influencing factors are developed.
