Until now, the metaphor of the "Catholic farmer's daughter" has served as a common cipher for disadvantaged starting conditions in education and career. Today, this stigmatization primarily affects the youth with a migration background. However, there are also individuals in this group who not only successfully complete their studies but also hold responsible professional positions. Armand Farsi examines, based on a unique dataset, which specific biography and socialization factors can explain the career success of academics with a migration background. In addition to validating universally applicable factors, previously unexplored migrant-specific success dimensions can also be articulated. Building on this, initial implications for targeted integration policy are derived.
