1.9 million Germans are affected by Dupuytren's contracture. A recurrence rate of over 50% after surgical treatment attempts shows that the condition is not solely treatable through surgery. This work therefore takes two approaches: On one hand, it highlights the systemic nature of Dupuytren's contracture in the context of other connective tissue diseases by describing the biochemical and molecular biological changes in the affected connective tissue. On the other hand, it derives the different therapeutic approaches from a detailed representation of the anatomical conditions. In addition to the fundamentals of conservative therapy, all common surgical procedures are described, including procedure-specific complications, and are illustrated in their essential features.
