The fundamentals of the morphology and anatomy of macrofungi are presented in this textbook, which is also written for interested laypeople in an easily understandable manner. It bridges the gap between natural observation and textbook knowledge, as well as between academic and popular mycology. The authors achieve this based on definitions and explanations of technical terms, supported by nature-related illustrations on 112 color plates. The book serves to enhance the general understanding of the complex characteristics of fungi, which differ in many ways from flowering plants and animals due to their hidden sexuality, abnormal reproduction and dispersal strategies, and symbiotic relationships with organisms, along with a largely absent individuality.
