Jonas Berger demonstrates that the Country-by-Country Report only partially simplifies and makes the derivation and documentation of transfer pricing more cost-efficient, while also increasing the transparency of transfer pricing policies. The author examines the components of the OECD initiative and their impact on German entrepreneurs, legislators, and the German tax authorities, with a particular focus on the Country-by-Country Report. He shows that the current regulations still leave companies with a lot of leeway in compliance and are often subject to interpretation. Many of the requested pieces of information must be painstakingly gathered, which means additional effort for companies, but also leads to inaccuracies in the comparability of the data.
