The authors examine the situation of origin, migration paths and motives, as well as the living conditions of immigrants from Bulgaria and Romania, using the example of the arrival neighborhood Duisburg-Marxloh. They analyze the attitudes of the long-term residents of the neighborhood towards this significant new immigration and identify the needs for dealing with it. Comparable arrival neighborhoods have often been characterized in the past by a difficult economic situation and a high proportion of immigrants.
