In vocational and business education, little is known about the professional competence of workplace trainers, despite their significant role in the teaching and learning process at work. This also applies to the competence of training personnel in effectively dealing with the mistakes of trainees. Alexander Baumgartner addresses this research gap and analyzes knowledge about errors in work situations, the action strategies in error situations, and the perspectives on the benefits of mistakes (professional error competence). Furthermore, the error climate in the training company and the individual handling of mistakes by trainees are examined. The author focuses on the training sector of the hotel and hospitality industry, considering current issues related to securing future talent (high contract cancellation rates, inadequate training).
