Previous psychotherapy-related publications on the topic of gender focus on patients and largely overlook the interaction with therapists. In contrast, this work adopts an interactionist perspective that examines the joint process, mutual attribution, and reinforcement within gender roles. Not only do we psychotherapists change our clients, but clients also change their psychotherapists.
