This volume provides a concise overview of the classic texts in the sociology of religion for study purposes, thus filling the gap created by the increased interest in the field of religion. In recent decades, religion has once again become - and increasingly so - a topic of discussion. Even if one can be skeptical about a return of the religious in its claimed universality, there is no doubt that there is a resurgence of religion in academic discourse as well as in public discussions. Not only are more and more students showing interest, but especially an increasing number of doctoral candidates are engaging with sociological topics related to religion or subjects that at least touch upon this field of research.
