Doreen Appelt examines the influencing factors on positive employee reactions during the implementation of restructuring initiatives from a sensemaking perspective. In this context, she analyzes the underlying mechanisms of meaning construction related to behavior and presents opportunities for sensegiving in restructuring. Essential influencing factors and components in sensemaking, as well as a conceptual framework for sensegiving, are developed from theoretical and empirical literature. As a result, practical design recommendations for restructuring are provided, which can serve as guidelines for the responsible management.
