This textbook is based on the authors' simulation lectures at engineering and business faculties, experiences from conducted simulation studies in practical business settings, as well as activities in research projects and work in associations such as the Association of German Engineers, the Simulation Working Group, or the Society for Operations Research. The resulting specialized book systematically explains the fundamentals of discrete event simulation while providing a close connection to applications in production and logistics. All content is consistently illustrated using the example of PC assembly. The book serves as a foundation for courses in relevant degree programs in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and logistics.
