The contributions in this volume address the impacts of new governance and utilization logics that can be summarized under the term "entrepreneurial city." Social work, which primarily operates at the neighborhood level, faces an increasing fragmentation of the city and is confronted with the displacement of socially weaker groups. Urban development policy acts both as a support and a regulator: location marketing enhances international competitiveness, while neighborhood development programs counteract the disintegration of the city. The authors discuss current programs, address areas such as self-help, social movements, and social policy, and engage with the role of perceptions and imaginations in urban research.
