Sabine Lauber-Pohle investigates how learning processes and the social environment influence each other. She focuses on online-based learning forms, where the design of the learning process is largely shifted to the participants. The core of her work revolves around the structure, design, and functionalization of three sub-networks (initial network, learning network, extended network) to provide individual support and ensure successful participation in online-based learning forms. The author conducts a qualitative, theme-based content analysis of 18 interviews as well as a qualitative network analysis, identifying five biography-oriented learning types. Theoretical references include concepts of distance learning, social network theory, and the theoretical construct of constitutional achievements.
