The volume documents the results of the Braunschweig project "Neighborhood in the School." The aim of the project is to increase participation opportunities for children in socially disadvantaged areas by providing elementary school students and their families with access to existing social and cultural offerings in the neighborhood according to their needs. Unlike traditional approaches to school social work, it does not focus on individual problems. It is not case-oriented but rather community-oriented and takes the entire system into account, including students, parents, school staff, and community actors. "Neighborhood in the School" seeks to utilize the resources of the school and civil society for children and employs networking techniques.
