Foresight, futures studies, technology assessment, and trend research are characterized by a research perspective focused on the future. This gives rise to fundamental particularities that must be taken into account when designing studies and conducting practical research work. The contributing authors provide guidance and describe the quality criteria and standards by which the quality of results and processes in future research can be assessed.
