Daniel Frischemeier is developing a course for mathematics teacher trainees (for elementary, secondary, and comprehensive schools) on data analysis using the software TinkerPlots. He bases his work on a Design-Based Research approach and describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of the course. From this foundation, he formulates implications for data analysis with TinkerPlots. In a subsequent case study, he identifies and analyzes the statistical thinking of teacher trainees and their use of the software in comparing distributions through qualitative content analysis.
