A total of 457 problems have been compiled from the most important areas of control engineering (about 50 more than in the first edition), as they may be presented in exams or calculation exercises. Each problem is followed by a detailed analytical, numerical, and computer algebraic solution in MATLAB and other simulation languages, often accompanied by discussions and solution graphics. The examples cover the design of control loops, stability investigations, state space, sampling control, optimization, robustness, stochastic and linear systems; however, individual more complex areas are also addressed. New in the second edition are chapters 15 and 16, which focus on interdisciplinary and more complex problem statements as well as numerical and symbolic computer support.
