At the Lower Saxony Criminological Research Institute (KFN), a comprehensive scientific research project was conducted that analyzed relevant criminal case files nationwide, examining all cases of intentional, completed homicide of children aged 0 to 5 years from 1997 to 2006. Although high-profile cases have raised public awareness in recent years that children can also be victims of homicide, there are still only a few significant findings on this topic.
