This book summarizes the experiences of years of practical-clinical collaboration among colleagues from all specialties regarding the topic of tracheotomy and tracheostomy care. Tracheotomy is one of the most common interventions in intensive care units. In head and neck surgery, complex procedures often cannot be performed without tracheotomy. "Can't intubate - can't ventilate" situations require prompt medical action to secure the airways: either emergency cricothyrotomy or surgical or percutaneous dilatational tracheotomy techniques. Postoperative tracheostoma management requires highly specialized wound care and professional follow-up. It was particularly important to present standards for tracheostomy care and to address cannula systems and tracheostomy accessories. Special emphasis is placed on voice, speech, and respiratory therapy.
