This volume describes the Through-Cracked-Bending (TCB) Test and the Through-Cracked-Tensile (TCT) Test as central testing methods for assessing the residual load-bearing behavior of laminated safety glass (VSG) and toughened safety glass (TVG). Both tests allow for the classification of the interlayer of VSG by comparing it with the PVB film commonly used in construction, and they are superior to the adhesion tensile and shear tests, as well as the currently utilized testing methods, such as the Pummel test. The delamination behavior of the interlayer in broken VSG, which can be interpreted as the detachment process of the film from the glass, is particularly significant for residual load capacity. This behavior is experimentally investigated in detail using the TCT Test with PVB films of varying adhesion levels at different rates by determining their respective energy release rates.
