Various types of laminar flames are used to describe the interactions between chemical reaction kinetics, molecular transport processes, and flow. When addressing turbulent combustion processes, current methods for describing the coupling between chemical reactions and turbulent flow fields are employed. Applications include engine knocking and pollutant formation. The third edition has been expanded and updated in light of current research.
