The new challenges of the 21st century, such as global Islamist terrorism, as well as the looming climate change and the resulting natural disasters, are leading to far-reaching changes in the system of internal security. While the focus of public attention has primarily been on state security, other areas are now gaining increasing importance. This anthology is dedicated to civil protection and its integration into internal security. The phenomenon of securitization is at the forefront. Civil protection is understood as a concept that goes beyond disaster relief.
