Product details
Alexander Werner analyzes the determinants of regional growth differences in Germany, for which various theoretical models provide explanatory approaches. The author examines the regional growth of several economic indicators - GDP and disposable income per capita, as well as global and sectoral labor productivity - during the period from 1996 to 2008. He utilizes both district regions and his own delineation of labor market regions; additionally, he highlights the differences between the nominal and real development of the economic indicators through regional price indices. In the econometric models, the author accounts for spatial dependencies and demonstrates heterogeneous effects of the growth determinants along the conditional distribution using quantile regression.
