Anja Heine examines how engineers and scientists in research and development areas related to electromobility within an automotive company continue their education on professional learning topics, specifically in electromobility. As the shift towards electromobility presents new requirements for expertise, they need to expand their knowledge in combustion engines to include electrical engineering and chemical competencies. The author notes that corporate training offers opportunities to respond early to the needs for new specialized topics. There have been few studies focusing on the individual perspective of the actors, particularly in the learning or acquisition process of new technologies. This research gap is addressed here.
