The Dictionary of Invertebrates includes the majority of invertebrate animals found in German-speaking regions of Europe for which common names already exist. Additionally, a variety of important global species are listed. The names of the 12,800 invertebrate animals included here are organized by major groups and then alphabetically by scientific names, supplemented by their English common names where available. This is based on extensive literature review of encyclopedic works, faunas, nature guides, red lists, and monographs of individual animal groups. This reference and resource work is not only helpful and important for scientists, translators, and journalists, but also for anyone who engages with animals in various ways.
