The 1st German Scout Book: Alexander Lion brought the scouting idea to Germany. With his translation of the book "Scouting for Boys," he began the spread of the idea in Germany. After 21 years, a new facsimile edition of the original 1909 Scout Book by Alexander Lion is now available. With this book, Spurbuchverlag offers a total of three books by and about Alexander Lion, allowing readers to delve into the thoughts of the co-founder of the German scouting movement. The comparison with Baden-Powell's work reveals parallels and differences, which are particularly less pronounced in this first edition than in later editions. Above all, this book is a historical work that highlights the roots of German scouting. Many foundational ideas are still valid today, but they must also be adapted to the present.
