"Revolution Is Not a Dinner Party" is a captivating children's book that tells the story of Ling, a nine-year-old girl living in the turbulent year of 1972 in China. Over the next four years, Ling faces challenges that many people do not have to endure in a lifetime. The question remains whether she can thrive under the oppressive rule of Chairman Mao or if the struggle for survival will destroy her spirit. This book was awarded one of the best children's books of the year in 2008.
