Despite his extensive body of work, there are only a few statements by Sri Aurobindo regarding his own person. For the first time, these are now available in collected form in German. After his studies in England and his politically revolutionary activities in India aimed at liberating his homeland from colonial rule, Sri Aurobindo experienced a breakthrough around 1909 to his true purpose. This culminated in an expansion of earthly consciousness beyond all mental levels, during his work in Pondicherry. The distinctiveness of this work, aligned with the mission of spiritual predecessors, led him to the conviction that his life did not lie on the surface and therefore required a more careful biographical account. Thus, from this compilation of notes and letters, the reader encounters something akin to a unique autobiography.
