St Gunther. The transformation from pompous count to God-fearing monk
German, 2017Product details
Academic paper from 2015 in the field of Theology - Historical Theology, Church History, Grade: 1.0, Language: German. Abstract: This seminar paper discusses the life of Saint Gunther, who is attributed special significance for the regions of Bavaria and Bohemia. Almost every region around Gunther's settlement areas in the Bavarian Forest bears traces of the hermit, who over 1000 years ago was one of the first people to cultivate the inaccessible Bavarian Forest. The ongoing presence of the saint in the communities surrounding Guntherland is particularly interesting. What did this monk accomplish - and especially, how did he manage to remain so present even today, over 1000 years after his death? This question will be addressed in the following paper through three main points.
