Product details
Martin Assig (born 1959) is undoubtedly one of the most prominent contemporary German artists today. In addition to his paintings, for which he has cultivated the ancient Egyptian technique of encaustic in a unique way, he has primarily entered our consciousness through his extensive body of drawings. His new volume, which contains 626 drawings, many of which are richly colored, is titled St. Paul and represents an artistic engagement with votive images and the artist Paul Klee, whom Assig reverently admires. Connoisseurs will not miss Assig's quotes and echoes of Paul Klee's works while flipping through the pages. They will also rediscover the artist Martin Assig, with his body distortions reminiscent of Art Brut, his geometric schemes, and especially his word and language games that come across like proverbs, fervent prayers, and sighs: It is.
