The textbook is aimed at students of architecture, urban planning, urban studies, art, and cultural sciences. It is intended to provide students with a theoretical and methodological foundation for their studies and projects. On one hand, it aims to convey an overview of how different approaches from the social sciences can be utilized to systematically and realistically investigate specific problems in cities. On the other hand, the book will present positions on fundamental questions of urban research that are intended to lead to a better interdisciplinary understanding.
