The book examines the appropriation of public spaces by children and adolescents, using a new and redeveloped area in Zurich as a case study. It addresses the crises and opportunities of public spaces against the backdrop of an interdisciplinary approach that combines urban planning, architecture, and cultural studies: At which intersections do conflicts or opportunities for communication processes between generations arise in public urban spaces? What measures can influence or promote these interactions? The everyday practices of children and adolescents in public spaces are thus highlighted as a contribution to an intergenerationally effective public sphere in terms of social capital.
