Product details

Like no other, Hans Bernoulli shaped the cooperative and private settlement and housing sector in Switzerland. The highly influential Basel architect, urban planner, theorist, and university lecturer was a Homo politicus, and his work was ethically motivated. He viewed architecture as part of a larger societal whole. To this day, his thoughts and proposals have not lost their relevance. After initial successes with residential and commercial buildings in Berlin and Central Germany, Bernoulli soon made a name for himself with urban planning projects. Since 1910, as an architect for the German Garden City Society, he designed, among other things, the development plans for the settlements of Falkenberg near Berlin and Reform in Magdeburg. Appointed chief architect of the Basel Building Society in 1912, he became one of the pioneers of small housing and settlement construction in Switzerland.
