Product details
On the History of Urban Planning: Le Corbusier (1887-1965) is one of the most significant and influential architects and theorists of the 20th century, having published numerous books and articles on architecture and urban planning. In 1933, he played a key role in the Athens Congress "The Functional City," which was attended by the international architectural avant-garde of the time and where the famous and controversial Athens Charter on urban planning issues was adopted. This fundamental planning document established principles of modern urban planning for the first time, which continue to be relevant today. The "Charter" he formulated incorporates the results of his long-standing work on urban analyses and utopian city designs, which he had already published in 1925 in the book "Urbanisme." The German edition of this groundbreaking work looks to the future.
