Product details

The name of this city stands for one of the bloodiest and deadliest battles of World War II and for its turning point. The author has dedicated the last few decades to researching this topic. In his work, which has so far focused on the history of doctors, other medical personnel, and the role of international aid organizations, especially the Red Cross, he has also been able to collect a larger number of eyewitness accounts from Stalingrad over time. These reports from German soldiers of all branches of the military who were involved in the battle for this city are now being made accessible to a wider audience for the first time. They reflect the brutality of the fighting, but also the slowly fading hope of being rescued from the encirclement. Most of these reports have previously been unpublished or only found in obscure locations.
