Product details

The book presents both traditional and newer theories regarding location choice. The traditional location theories include classical location theory, agglomeration economics, and the examination of the effects of different industry structures on a city or region. In addition, newer approaches such as Michael Porter's cluster and network theory, as well as the latest explanatory models like the New Economic Geography and the Creative Class Theory, are introduced. All of these theories illustrate the reasons for the spatial concentration of economic activity. To enable the reader to conduct regional and urban economic studies themselves, knowledge of empirical methodology is also provided. Various measures of spatial concentration and regional specialization are presented.
