The theater continually requires impulses from its most important advocates. Stanislavski is one of them, and this is true worldwide. Engaging with his theater and his theater theory is relevant for current reasons: there is a changed political landscape, there are archives that have become accessible, and above all, there are people—those in theater and film—who are coming together more often than ever. Reflecting on the work of the theater master, observing the confusions and complexities surrounding his oeuvre, his universal teachings and system are examined. Theater emerges as a temple of the arts, a reflection of the zeitgeist of the early modern era, as well as a place of contradictions in the meeting of people and opinions.
