Building on a solid presentation of fundamental statistical methods, procedures for quality assurance and reliability analysis are presented in an application-oriented manner. The methods and procedures introduced are integrated into a quality management system according to ISO 9000 and beyond. The authors first present common quality tools, with their application explained through practical examples. In the section on Measurement System Analysis (MSA), the procedures of MSA are detailed. The practical implementation is illustrated using suitable software solutions. In process capability analyses, in addition to discussing the usual methods, there is an extensive discussion of the model assumptions and the resulting difficulties. Concrete recommendations for action are developed to provide students and practitioners with solutions for various situations.
