This introduction to statistics covers the fundamentals of univariate, bivariate, and multivariate data analysis using examples from research practice. All methods are presented in a way that they can be understood both "by hand" and with SPSS and Stata. This introduction to statistics is oriented towards the practice of social science data analysis. The mathematical foundations are explained to the extent necessary for understanding the methods. However, the focus is primarily on working with data. The central question is: What significance do the methods, metrics, and graphs of univariate, bivariate, and multivariate data analysis hold?
